Cranial Prosthetics

A cranial prosthetic is a medical wig: a full hairpiece made for people living with hair loss from a medical cause. DeLisa Hair Studio offers cranial prosthetics in a private studio at Sola Salon on Washtenaw Avenue in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Who cranial prosthetics are for

Cranial prosthetics are worn by women, men and children with hair loss from alopecia areata or alopecia totalis, chemotherapy and radiation, thyroid conditions, trichotillomania, burns, and other medical conditions. They are made to look like natural hair and to be worn every day.

Insurance for a cranial prosthesis

Insurance is accepted at DeLisa Hair Studio. Many health plans cover part or all of a cranial prosthesis when a doctor writes a prescription for one. The prescription usually names the item as a “cranial prosthesis” and lists the diagnosis behind the hair loss.

Coverage is different for every plan, so call your insurance provider before your appointment to ask what your plan covers and what paperwork it needs.

A private, accessible studio
